NJ Court Limits Insurer Rejections Of Arbitration Awards

Law360, New York (November 28, 2012, 6:50 PM EST) -- A New Jersey appellate court on Wednesday memorialized an earlier, unpublished finding that uninsured motorist insurers barred under their policies from rejecting arbitration awards under $15,000 can't spurn larger awards when their ultimate liability is still below that threshold.

The court also refused to rule that New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group may have acted in bad faith when it refused to pay half of a roughly $29,000 arbitration award, because of the existence of another unpublished decision in 2004 finding that an insurer in such cases...
