Texas Court Sides With Family In Oil Royalties Dispute

Law360, Dallas (November 28, 2012, 7:14 PM EST) -- A Texas appellate court on Wednesday reversed a trial court ruling that stripped Huber Oil and Gas Co. and a private family trust from royalties they said they were owed, saying the court wrongly interpreted a 1932 grant of mineral rights.

The Fourth Court of Appeals said the original 1932 grant entitled the Coates Energy Trust and the Huber company to half the mineral rights for two 680-acre tracts of land and half of whatever royalties were collected once the land started producing oil and gas,...
