Dunkin' Donuts 'Best Coffee' Motto Dismissed As Puffery

Law360, New York (November 29, 2012, 1:41 PM EST) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has ruled against a Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. unit's bid to trademark the slogan “Best Coffee In America,” calling the proposed mark “puffery” that simply touts the doughnut seller's coffee and isn't capable of functioning as a trademark.
