Hospital Tech Indicted For Allegedly Causing Hep C Outbreak

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 2:53 PM EST) -- A federal grand jury on Wednesday filed a 14-count indictment accusing a former laboratory technician at a New Hampshire hospital of stealing injectable painkillers and refilling syringes with saline, causing more than 30 patients to become infected with hepatitis C.

David Kwiatkowski, who allegedly knew he carried the disease when using and returning the syringes, faces seven counts each of tampering with consumer products and fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance in connection with the alleged misconduct at Exeter Hospital.
