Jury Convicts Duo For Stealing GM Hybrid Car Trade Secrets

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 7:52 PM EST) -- A Michigan federal jury convicted a former General Motors Co. electrical engineer and her husband on Friday for scheming to steal $40 million worth of the automaker's hybrid car technology trade secrets and give them to a Chinese rival.

Shanshan Du allegedly siphoned sensitive GM documents about its hybrid car work to her husband, Yu Qin, for the benefit of their own company. After Du was laid off, she copied thousands of more files and later handed them over to a Chinese competitor.
