Pool Chemical Co.'s Duty Refund Bid Nixed By Supreme Court

Law360, New York (December 3, 2012, 5:12 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to hear swimming pool chemical company Alden Leeds Inc.'s challenge to a Federal Circuit ruling that sunk a case Alden Leeds filed to recoup cash it deposited to cover dumping duties on pool-sanitizing chemicals from Spain.

The high court denied a petition for writ of certiorari that Alden Leeds lodged in June following the Federal Circuit's ruling that said the U.S. Court of International Trade lacked jurisdiction over the company's lawsuit and remanded with instructions for the CIT to toss...
