Lexmark Prevails In Suit Over Patented Printer Cartridges

Law360 (September 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. appeals court has rejected a claim by the Arizona Cartridge Remanufacturers Association (ACRA) that Lexmark International Inc. engaged in unfair business practices by offering discounts for its patented printer cartridges to printer buyers.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld a February decision by Judge Saundra B. Armstrong in theU.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, which stated the non-profit ACRA had failed to show that Lexmark’s practices were unfair.
