Obama Extends Online Fraud Enforcement Legislation

Law360, New York (December 4, 2012, 6:49 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday signed legislation that reauthorized online fraud enforcement provisions allowing the Federal Trade Commission to share information with foreign counterparts to battle cross-border fraud and spam attacks, extending the measures until 2020.

The bipartisan legislation keeps alive the expiring Undertaking Spam, Spyware and Fraud Enforcement With Enforcers Beyond Borders Act of 2006, a bill aimed at combating the increasing problem of Internet-based scams by allowing the FTC to give more information to fraud enforcement agencies in other countries and aid those agencies...
