Pharmacy Manager Says Walgreen Broke Deal, Copied Biz Model

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 2:26 PM EST) -- A pharmacy benefit manager on Monday sued Walgreen Co. in Illinois state court for allegedly flouting contract terms by setting up a national platform that offers discounts to the manager’s rivals and improperly uses the manager’s confidential business model information.

OnePoint Patient Care LLC, a closed-door pharmacy and benefit manager for the hospice industry, said Walgreen is creating a “national hospice platform” offering reduced-cost dispensing and improved services, violating an agreement under which it promised only to provide standard network pricing and service levels to other companies....
