Clinics Can't Dodge Varian Cancer Device Patent Claims

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 6:53 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday kept alive claims that four Chicago-area medical facilities indirectly infringed patented technology by inducing radiation specialists and radiation oncologists to use infringing cancer treatment devices manufactured by Varian Medical Systems Inc.

U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Kendall said Radiation Stabilization Solutions LLC, which also has claimed that Varian infringed U.S. Patent Number 6,118,848, had sufficiently alleged that Loyola University Medical Center, Cancer Treatment Centers of America Inc., affiliate Midwestern Regional Medical Center Inc. and urology firm UroPartners LLC indirectly infringed...
