Calif. Wal-Marts To Pull Products With Possible Carcinogens

Law360, New York (December 7, 2012, 6:30 PM EST) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will temporarily stop selling certain baby products in California that a chemical industry watchdog claimed contain quantities of a carcinogenic flame retardant chemical above California’s safety standards, the big-box retailer confirmed Friday.

The move followed legal notices sent out Thursday by the watchdog group, Oakland, Calif.-based Center for Environmental Health, which also sent the notices to other large retailers, including Kmart Corp. and Babies “R” Us, for not putting warning labels on baby products such as crib mattress pads and nap mats, which...
