EU Proposes Single Telecom Market

Law360, New York (November 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission's long-discussed plan to fully deregulate the telecom industry in Europe may finally be realized, now that regulators have proposed the creation of a single market for telecom services.

In a plan made public on Tuesday, the commission adopted a proposal for the reform of current European Union telecom regulations. The “Telecoms Reform Package” calls for the establishment of one telecoms market that will span member states.
