Faulty Shingle Class Seeks Approval Of $100M Settlement

Law360, New York (December 7, 2012, 6:09 PM EST) -- A class of property owners asked a Vermont federal court for final approval of a $100 million settlement with Building Products of Canada Corp. that resolves a suit over the company's allegedly faulty shingles by providing a cash payment or reimbursement of roof repairs.

The agreement would allow all owners of homes, buildings and other structures with roofs containing BP organic shingles to receive compensation to address repairs for an entire slope of each respective roof as long as more than 5 percent of the shingles...
