Planned Parenthood Sues Over Texas Funding Exclusion

Law360, New York (December 11, 2012, 10:41 PM EST) -- A group of Planned Parenthood chapters on Tuesday challenged a new Texas family planning program that excludes them from receiving state funding because of their affiliation with groups that perform abortions. 

The chapters questioned rules adopted by the state Health and Human Services Commission to prevent them from participating in the Texas Women’s Health Program even though they don’t themselves provide abortions, which only their affiliates provide and only with private funds, according to two separate complaints filed Tuesday, one in Texas federal court in Austin...
