Enviros, Wind Energy Firms Reach Deal To Protect Whales

Law360, New York (December 12, 2012, 6:12 PM EST) -- A group of a dozen offshore wind energy developers and environmental organizations on Wednesday announced an agreement to protect the endangered North Atlantic right whale by taking extra measures in the development process, such as slowing down boats or restricting pile-driving.

Developers Deepwater Wind, Energy Management Inc. and Bluewater Wind Delaware LLC joined by the Sierra Club, Oceana and several other environmental groups, agreed to suspend pile driving and sub-bottom profiling from late fall through spring and limit the activities on certain dates based on results...
