US Bancorp Can't Dodge Insurer's MBS Suit

Law360, New York (December 12, 2012, 9:48 PM EST) -- A Nebraska federal judge on Wednesday refused to toss tortious interference and other claims against U.S. Bancorp in a life insurance company's suit over Bancorp unit U.S. Bank NA's alleged misrepresentations about mortgage-backed securities.

U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Bataillon denied U.S. Bancorp's motion to dismiss claims of tortious interference, conversion and unjust enrichment. Plaintiff Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society had adequately pled the claims against the parent company, despite Bancorp's protestations that it had no relationship with Woodmen, he ruled.
