Ex-NY Senate Leader Can't Dodge Fraud Charges

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 9:53 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday refused to throw out fraud charges against former New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, saying retrial was allowed on claims that had been set aside due to an error in earlier proceedings.

U.S. District Judge Gary L. Sharpe rejected Bruno’s argument that the federal government couldn't bring the fraud charges again after the Second Circuit vacated his conviction on two counts of honest-services mail and wire fraud in November 2011.
