China On Top Of US' Piracy List Despite Taobao's Exit

Law360, New York (December 14, 2012, 6:51 PM EST) -- Taobao, one of China's largest online retailers, has been removed from the U.S. government's list of piracy and counterfeiting hotspots, but China itself is home to more suspect marketplaces than any other nation, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office said in a report released Thursday.

In the latest edition of its “Out-of-Cycle Review of Notorious Markets” list, the USTR commended online shopping hub Taobao for taking proactive steps to clean its website of counterfeit and pirated goods, while separately highlighting more than 30 online and physical marketplaces...
