Texas High Court Will Hear Russian Trade Secret Theft Case

Law360, Dallas (December 14, 2012, 2:59 PM EST) -- The Texas Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a Texas energy company's argument that a trial court too easily let Russia's OAO Gazprom off the hook for allegedly stealing trade secrets and that appellate courts should have broader authority to review similar jurisdictional rulings.

Moncrief Oil International Inc. asked the court in April 2011 to hear the dispute, arguing a Fort Worth appellate court was too deferential to a trial court finding Gazprom and its subsidiaries didn’t have sufficient contacts with the state to establish jurisdiction....
