Swiss Antitrust Agency Probes Expedia, Others

Law360, New York (December 14, 2012, 2:32 PM EST) -- Switzerland's competition watchdog launched an investigation Wednesday into suspicions that “best-price guarantee” programs offered by Expedia Inc. and other hotel booking sites had violated Swiss antitrust law.

Echoing a British investigation and a slew of class actions in the U.S., the Swiss Competition Commission, or Comco, said it would probe whether contracts between booking companies and hotels guaranteeing certain distributors the “best price” for a room had stifled price competition.
