Pa. Newspaper Can't Get Full Employee Termination Docs

Law360, New York (December 14, 2012, 8:00 PM EST) -- A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter on Friday lost his bid to gain full access to an employment termination letter issued by a Pittsburgh-area municipality after the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania said the state's right-to-know law protects the municipality's decision.

The Commonwealth Court upheld a lower court ruling that affirmed Wilkinsburg Borough's decision to give reporter Jonathan Silver a redacted version of an employee’s termination letter, saying the letter was exempt from the state's right-to-know law because it contained information relating to a government agency employee’s discipline, demotion...
