Domino's Pizza Founder Sues Over ACA Contraception Mandate

Law360, Los Angeles (December 17, 2012, 4:49 PM EST) -- The founder of Domino's Pizza sued several federal agencies and officials Friday in Michigan federal court, alleging the contraception mandate of the Affordable Care Act violates his religious beliefs and the U.S. Constitution.

Thomas Monaghan and his company, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino’s Farms Corp., argued in their 40-page complaint that the mandate, passed as part of a larger health care reform law by Congress in 2010, requires them to subsidize contraception and abortion — things that, as Catholics, they find abhorrent.
