Texas Lawmaker Sets Sights On Solar In Green Energy Proposal

Law360, Dallas (December 18, 2012, 9:01 PM EST) -- A Texas lawmaker on Monday filed a bill to update the state’s renewable energy targets, met and exceeded long ahead of schedule, with a requirement that 35 percent of the state’s energy capacity come from renewable sources by 2020, including at least 2 percent from solar energy.

The changes Rep. Eddie Rodriguez, D-Austin, proposes in H.B. 303 would require a much larger boost for renewables than even the state’s booming wind farms have so far achieved.
