Crude Oil Trucking Co. Can't Stop Rival's Similar Designs

Law360, Dallas (December 18, 2012, 7:27 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Tuesday denied a bid by Heil Trailer International Co. to stop rival Troxell Co. from manufacturing and selling trailers used to move crude oil that Heil alleges are based on designs it says were stolen by a trio of former employees.

Judge Terry Means said Heil hadn’t shown its designs and other allegedly stolen information qualified as trade secrets, in part because the work was “readily ascertainable in the industry” and could have been copied without a trade secrets violation. Judge...
