MasterCard Sued Over Credit Card Security Features

Law360, New York (September 14, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- MasterCard International Inc. has been sued in federal court for allegedly stealing and patenting credit card security technology developed by a business partner to prevent fraud and credit card scams.

Start-up PrivaSys Inc. sued the credit card giant Monday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The complaint seeks a preliminary and permanent injunction to prevent the company from further disclosure of its trade secrets. In addition, the lawsuit asks the court to have the name of its inventor added to MasterCard’s patent....
