Federal Circuit Upholds $160M Microsoft Verdict

Law360 (November 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An appeals court has affirmed a $160 million decision that Microsoft and Autodesk Inc. infringed on two patents held by a small company related to protecting software from piracy.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Friday that Microsoft willfully infringed on the patents of Michigan-based z4 Technologies Inc.

Autodesk settled with z4 prior to the close of briefing in the appeal, the Federal Circuit's decision said.
