Mich. Law Bars Public Contractors With Iran Ties

Law360, New York (January 3, 2013, 3:42 PM EST) -- Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has signed legislation into law that bars any person or business with economic ties to Iran from bidding on contracts with the state and imposes six-figure financial penalties on those who hide such associations.

The Iran Economic Sanctions Act, signed into law Dec. 28, prohibits those with economic relationships with Iran from submitting bids on requests for proposals with the state, cities, villages, townships, counties, public authorities, school districts, community college districts, intermediate school districts or public airport authorities, according to Snyder’s...
