Chamber's Trademark Too Weak To Nix Other Group's: USPTO

Law360, New York (January 3, 2013, 7:46 PM EST) -- A U.S. Patent and Trademark Office panel ruled Monday that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's trademarks were weak and deserved only narrow protection, shooting down the Chamber's bid to cancel a trademark registered by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

In a 107-page ruling, a three-judge panel from the USPTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board denied the Chamber's petition for cancellation of a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce trademark registration, which covered the HCC's name and a logo.
