Top Calif. Court Won’t Hear Union Dispute On Worker Raises

Law360, San Diego (January 4, 2013, 5:36 PM EST) -- The California Supreme Court on Thursday declined to hear a union’s challenge of a decision that held court-ordered salary increases for public employees must receive approval by the state Legislature.

The state’s high court denied Service Employees International Union Local 1000’s petition for review of an October ruling by the Third District Court of Appeal that partially vacated an arbitration award ordering two sets of salary raises for medical workers because one had not obtained the Legislature’s approval.
