Goldman Pushes For Gupta To Pay $7M In Legal Fees

Law360, New York (January 4, 2013, 8:22 PM EST) -- Former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta should pay $7 million in legal fees and costs connected with the company's investigation of his insider trading, Goldman said Friday, arguing the law entitles victims to broad restitution.

Case law in the Second Circuit has the most expansive definition in the U.S. of what kind of victim expenses can be compensated by restitution, a lawyer for the firm said at a hearing before U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff in Manhattan.
