High Court Will Hear Prop 8, DOMA Arguments In Late March

Law360, San Diego (January 7, 2013, 4:31 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday indicated it will hear back-to-back oral arguments in March in two closely watched cases over California’s gay marriage ban and a federal law restricting benefits to heterosexual married couples.

According to its argument calendar, the high court on March 26 will consider a challenge by a group that sponsored California’s same-sex marriage ban to the Ninth Circuit’s February ruling that Proposition 8, which voters narrowly passed in 2008, violated the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.
