Calif. AG's CRT Antitrust Deal Needs Work, Judge Says

Law360, San Francisco (January 8, 2013, 6:28 PM EST) -- A California judge grilled the state Attorney General's Office on Tuesday about its proposed settlement with Philips Electronics and Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. over price-fixing on cathode-ray tubes, questioning the $800,000 settlement amount and calling the proposed consumer notices inadequate.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer told the attorney general's attorneys to revamp its notices to potential claimants to make sure they don't accidentally bar California citizens from making claims in a concurrent federal multidistrict litigation on CRT price-fixing.
