NLRB Judge Shoots Down Quicken Employment Policies

Law360, New York (January 9, 2013, 8:20 PM EST) -- A National Labor Relations Board judge ruled Tuesday that provisions of Quicken Loans Inc.'s employment agreement with its mortgage bankers aimed at protecting confidential information and keeping employees from criticizing the company ran afoul of federal labor law.

Administrative Law Judge Joel P. Biblowitz found that the agreement's confidential information and nondisparagement provisions violated the National Labor Relations Act because it could be construed as restricting employees' rights to engage in protected, concerted activity under the law.
