Spanair Crash Suits Don't Belong In US, 9th Circ. Says

Law360, Chicago (January 11, 2013, 2:56 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Thursday affirmed a California federal court ruling that dismissed 116 consolidated wrongful death and personal injury suits against The Boeing Co. and aircraft parts manufacturers over a deadly 2008 Spanair plane crash in Madrid, finding the cases belong in Spain.

The estate administrators of those who were killed in the crash had argued that their multidistrict litigation belonged in the U.S. and that a lower court had improperly discounted California's interest as the site of the plane's manufacturer.
