Kan. High Court Backs $33M Anadarko Gas Royalty Deal

Law360, Los Angeles (January 11, 2013, 9:56 PM EST) -- The Kansas Supreme Court upheld a $33 million settlement Friday of a class action brought by Kansas lease holders alleging Anadarko Petroleum Corp. underpaid them for the natural gas it extracted from their land, ruling a lone plaintiff’s objection to the settlement was unfounded.

In a unanimous decision against Stan R. Boles, a natural gas lease holder who was a member of the 6,000-strong settlement class, the appeals court affirmed that the settlement agreement between the plaintiffs and Anadarko was fair.
