Volcker, Risk Retention Rules Nearly Done: Comptroller

Law360, New York (January 11, 2013, 6:00 PM EST) -- Financial regulators are "nearing the finish line" in crafting the Dodd-Frank Act's controversial proprietary trading ban, as well as mortgage-backed security risk retention requirements mandated by the financial reform law, Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry said Friday.

The proprietary trading ban, known as the Volcker rule, went into effect in July and was supposed to have been written by the end of 2012, but battles between regulators over its provisions have pushed that timetable back to the first quarter of this year.
