Ardagh Bids $1.7B For Saint-Gobain's US Glass Business

Law360, New York (January 14, 2013, 1:32 PM EST) -- Ireland-based glass and metal packaging company Ardagh Group SA has proposed an offer for the North American glass container operations of French building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain SA for $1.7 billion, the companies said Monday.

Ardagh said it had made a binding offer to acquire Verallia North America from Saint-Gobain. Saint-Gobain has convened a meeting of its works council to consider Ardagh's offer. No timetable was given for the French firm's decision.
