Justices Invite SG's Opinion In Pfizer Asbestos Case

Law360, New York (January 14, 2013, 3:00 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday asked the solicitor general to weigh in on a dispute between Pfizer Inc. and Baltimore Orioles owner Peter G. Angelos' law firm over the scope of a ban on asbestos claims during bankruptcy proceedings.

Pfizer petitioned the high court in September to overturn a Second Circuit ruling that the company must face asbestos litigation related to its bankrupt subsidiary Quigley Co. Inc., arguing the Bankruptcy Code offers protection for parent companies in these situations.
