Retailers Ask NLRB To Reject Micro-Union At Macy's Store

Law360, New York (January 14, 2013, 5:43 PM EST) -- Two retail trade groups said Monday that they’ve submitted a brief with the National Labor Relations Board in support of a challenge by Macy’s Inc. to an NLRB regional director’s recognition of a micro-union at a Massachusetts store, saying retail unions should be “whole-store” units.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association and the Retail Litigation Center pressed the NLRB for permission to file the amicus curiae brief, saying they strongly disagree with the decision to certify a bargaining unit consisting of a Macy’s cosmetics and fragrances department...
