Judge Denies Parting Of Seagate Age Bias Claims

Law360, New York (November 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Minnesota federal judge has refused to dismiss class action claims alleging that Seagate Technology LLC and its affiliates discriminated against older workers when it laid off employees as part of a nationwide workforce reduction in July 2004.

U.S. District Judge Michael Davis of the District of Minnesota on Nov. 20 denied Seagate's motion to eliminate 19 of the 21 named plaintiffs in the case. They signed waivers not to sue the company as part of their severance packages. Judge Davis ruled that the lawsuit stated...
