DOJ Asks To Stay "No-Match" Suit

Law360 (November 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Barred from forcing companies to fire employees with Social Security number discrepancies, the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday asked a federal court to delay hearing a lawsuit concerning its plans for cracking down on illegal immigrants while it works on completing a new strategy.

According to papers filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the DOJ was planning to conduct additional rulemaking proceedings to address issues that had been raised by the court and various immigration and industrial lobbying groups....
