BrightSource Suspends 500-MW Rio Mesa Solar Project

Law360, New York (January 17, 2013, 5:12 PM EST) -- BrightSource Energy Inc. has put its 500-megawatt Rio Mesa solar thermal project in California on hold indefinitely and is shifting its attention to the Palen project it bought in August out of Solar Trust of America LLC's bankruptcy, the developer confirmed Thursday.

A spokeswoman said the company, which has the biggest pipeline of any U.S. solar developer, informed the California Energy Commission and the Bureau of Land Management that it was suspending its application for state permits, a process it had previously hoped to wrap up...
