NYC Attys May Warrant Tougher Discipline Rules, Judges Say

Law360, New York (January 22, 2013, 2:22 PM EST) -- The hypercompetitive culture among New York City attorneys could justify unique procedural rules for attorney discipline cases as opposed to rules in more rural areas, a group of state appellate judges suggested during a state bar association meeting Tuesday.

Three judges of New York's mid-level appeals court, the Appellate Division, and other experts discussed the merits and perils of adopting a uniform approach to attorney discipline in the state during a panel discussion at the annual meeting of the New York State Bar Association.
