Judge Could Bar Emeril Knives From Leaving US In IP Row

Law360, Miami (January 23, 2013, 5:14 PM EST) -- A Florida federal judge on Wednesday mulled an injunction that would bar Emeril Lagasse-branded knives from returning to a factory in China to be refurbished, in a $24 million trademark infringement suit claiming the cutlery is erroneously marketed as being made in Solingen, Germany.

In a hearing Wednesday, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid, a German trade association, asked U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams to prevent Georgia-based SED International Holdings Inc., which distributes the knives, from sending them back to the Chinese manufacturer to have...
