Bloomberg To Deny Bill Shielding Unemployed From Job Bias

Law360, New York (January 23, 2013, 6:27 PM EST) -- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Wednesday he'll veto a City Council bill that seeks to prohibit employers from discriminating against unemployed job applicants, calling it a “misguided” piece of legislation that will damage small businesses.

The City Council passed the legislation Wednesday, but Bloomberg said the bill could create a rash of litigation that will devastate small businesses and could disincentivize them from hiring new employees.
