LG.Philips LCD Patent Claims Dismissed For “Lack Of Standing”

Law360 (September 24, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a setback for LG.Philips’ drawn-out battle over LCD patents, a California federal court dismissed its claims against rival Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. because the Dutch-Korean joint venture didn’t fully own the patents when it asserted them.

LG.Philips LCD, the largest maker of liquid crystal displays, sued Chungwha in August 2002, accusing its Taiwanese rival of infringing two semiconductor patents and four side-mount patents in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
