Victims' Objections Delay BP Sentencing Hearings

Law360, New York (November 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A newly appointed judge indefinitely postponed a sentencing hearing for BP Plc on Monday in a case over an explosion at the company's Texas refinery after victims of the explosion asked the original judge to recuse himself and called BP's $50 million plea bargain inadequate.

The U.S. government filed a response to the victims, saying that the $50 million fine was adequate and that the victims lacked standing to intervene in the case.
