NY Court Scraps Sony Ericsson's Chip Development Suit

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 3:11 PM EST) -- Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications USA Inc. is a "sophisticated entity" that didn't rely on LSI Corp.'s representations related to a chip development agreement, a New York state appeals court found Thursday, dismissing Sony Ericsson's fraud suit against the semiconductor specialist.

A five-judge Appellate Division panel ruled that Sony Ericsson was aware of delays in wireless technology being developed by Agere Systems Inc., which LSI merged with in 2007, prior to executing the licensing agreement, backing the trial judge's dismissal of the case in August 2011....
