Calif. Accuses Foreign Apparel Cos. Of Software Piracy

Law360, San Diego (January 25, 2013, 5:47 PM EST) -- California Attorney General Kamala Harris on Thursday launched suits in state court alleging two international apparel makers pirated software in clothing production to gain an unfair competitive edge over U.S. firms.

Harris alleges in the complaints that China-based Ningbo Beyond Home Textile Co. Ltd. and India-based Pratibha Syntex Ltd. failed to pay licensing fees for software made by companies including Microsoft Corp., Adobe Systems Inc. and Symantec Corp. in violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law.
