Judge Urges Trimming Of Claims In Cinemark Shooting Suits

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 8:10 PM EST) -- A Colorado magistrate judge pushed Thursday for the dismissal of negligence and wrongful death claims in consolidated litigation against Cinemark USA Inc. over the deadly movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., last summer, but said premises liability claims should move forward.

A federal court consolidated seven lawsuits over the shooting in November. The suits seek to hold Cinemark liable for not taking more measures to prevent a gunman from opening fire in a midnight screening of the film "The Dark Knight Rises" in July, a shooting...
